Have some old bats or gloves your player no longer needs? Is your player looking for some new gear for the spring season? South Orange-Maplewood Baseball is hosting a used baseball bat and glove exchange next month!

Organized by the SOM Baseball Committee and South Orange Recreation Department, the exchange will be an opportunity for South Orange and Maplewood residents to donate unused and lightly used bats and gloves so that other kids in town can put it to good use. You can also come grab some items for your family!

WHEN TO DROP-OFF

Saturday, February 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE TO DROP-OFF

You can drop off at the Skate House in South Orange (next to the Duck Pond near South Orange Middle School) or 141 Franklin Avenue in Maplewood (leave on the front porch). This is the only day and time to drop your gear off.

WHEN TO PICK UP

On Sunday, February 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., come by the Skate House in South Orange, show proof of residency in South Orange/Maplewood and grab any bats or gloves your player may like, free of charge. Columbia High School’s Baseball Boosters will be on hand with several Columbia players to help out and assist families in finding what they need.

WHAT YOU CAN DONATE

New or lightly used bats or gloves only. Gloves can be for any position and must be in good working condition. Bats must adhere to SOM Baseball Rules:

  • All metal bats must have a “USA Baseball” or “BBCOR .50” stamp and limited to a diameter of 2 ⅝ inches
  • Wood bats should be solid one piece wood bats
