YOUTH UMPIRES

SOM Baseball offers opportunities to keep older kids involved in baseball and provides leadership learning experiences with our comprehensive youth umpire program. Teens ages 13 and up (as of 4/30) get real-life experience umpiring games for our Minors, Majors, and Babe Ruth divisions. The starting rate for youth umpires is $30 per game* with rate increases based on experience and annual completion of training. Learn more about our training program here.

*13 year old umpires are not paid. However, 13 year olds who successfully complete training will receive an increased starting rate of $40 for their second season. Umpires who turn 14 during their first season will be paid at the normal starting rate of $30 per game after their 14th birthday.

CARDED UMPIRES

SOM Baseball sometimes employs experienced adult umpires at a rate of $60 per game. All umpires are paid through town payroll and must fill out the proper tax forms to work games. Interested experienced adult umpires should contact Jesse Hein at somumpires@gmail.com.
