As you know, this is a truly unique year, and we’re doing the best we can to make travel baseball possible for parents and players as quickly, and more importantly, as SAFELY as possible in every way.

In the past few days, we have gotten approval to move forward with tryouts for the travel program to have a season and also enter the Cal Ripken Tournament. We sincerely apologize for the short notice, but the only way we can accomplish our goal of having a travel program for 2020 is to have tryouts begin THIS WEDNESDAY JULY 1st.

HERE IS A QUICK SUMMARY:

  • Players (ages 8-12U) must pre-register for tryouts asap, but will be allowed to through the full tryout period. There is no cost to pre-register.
  • To pre-register: Log into your Recreation Department account at https://secure.rec1.com/NJ/south-orange-village-township-nj/catalog. Select “Baseball-Summer” and select your age group.
  • TRYOUTS ARE JULY 1 & 2, with a makeup day on July 6. Schedule below.
  • The Cal Ripken Tournament starts July 17.
  • We have extensive safety guidelines and procedures in place for a safe tryout environment, following all town, NJ Dept. of Health, and CDC guidelines for sports activities. Should any of these requirements not be met, we cannot, and will not, have tryouts on these days. This will be covered in a separate email.

To be eligible to participate in Travel Baseball, players must:

  1. Be registered in SOM Baseball for Spring 2020
  2. Be age 8-12 (as of April 30th)
  3. Pre-register for “Baseball-Summer” (follow directions above)

SCHEDULE:
