South Orange Maplewood Travel Baseball
Cougar Baseball is the travel team program affiliated with South Orange Maplewood Baseball. Competitive tryouts are held in early spring for ages 8 and above, and late spring for age 7 players. Summer league and tournament play begins in June and is typically over by the end of July.
Each year most of our Cougar Baseball teams participate in the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth local district tournaments, with the hope of advancing on the tournament track to the state and regional tournaments, and dream of a trip to the Cal Ripken Baseball World Series!
Throughout the year, there are many clinics run by the SOM baseball program that are also recommended for players to keep improving. Please keep checking the SOM recreation site for information and dates.

*Note: If your child is registering for the 8u travel team, you may want to consider attending the rec league evaluations to play up to the minors division. If your child is registering for the 11u travel team, you may want to consider attending the rec league evaluations to play up to the M70 division. These divisions more accurately match the summer travel format for those age groups. For more info, view the age level guidelines on the SOM baseball site. No other age groups have this option.
