How to Participate

Eligibility

The SOM Travel Baseball Program is open to players in the South Orange–Maplewood community. Teams are offered by age group, enrollment permitting.

Tryouts

• Tryouts are held each October for the following season 
• Players are evaluated by coaches and travel coordinators in a transparent and fair process 
• Placement is based on ability, effort, attitude, and team balance 

Commitment Expectations

Participation in travel baseball requires a meaningful commitment:

• Winter training is required for all travel players 
• Players are expected to participate in spring and summer travel seasons 
• Any anticipated conflicts should be communicated early and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis 

Families should carefully consider the time commitment before accepting a roster spot.
